ROUND 8 (VENUE CHANGE) MALLORY PARK
The final round of the Kumho Tyres MSA British Rallycross Championship will be switched from Croft to run on a newly built track at Mallory Park on October 18.
The move has come about after new restrictions covering the usage of Croft Circuit (near Darlington) forced the circuit operator, the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC), to reduce the number of events on its 2009 calendar. The BARC also operates Mallory Park (near Leicester) and has recently gone through the process of designing new loose-surface sections in order to allow Rallycross events to be run at the circuit.
“We’ve been investigating every option for rescheduling the final round of the Kumho Tyres MSA British Rallycross Championship for some time, moving to Mallory Park is clearly the best thing we can do. I’m very grateful to [BARC Chief Executive] Dennis Carter for his help in facilitating the move,” said championship promoter Amy Doran.
Because of prior bookings, the move to Mallory Park also means the final round of the 2009 Kumho Tyres MSA British Rallycross Championship will move from its scheduled date of October 11 to October 18. The change of date and venue is subject to the circuit receiving the necessary approval by the MSA.
